Prototyping the Future of Fertility Innovation with Clinicians and Companies

Dec 10, 2025

On December 4th, ReproUnion held a matchmaking and co-creation event at Medeon Science Park in Malmö, which brought together startups, clinicians, researchers, and industry. The aim was to explore how collaboration and testbed frameworks can help accelerate innovation in the field of reproductive medicine.

The afternoon showcased the testbed model currently being rolled out by Innovation Skåne, as well as the synergy with ReproUnion’s Innovation Platform, which has been developed to connect unmet clinical needs with entrepreneurial innovation.

As Erik Stenberg from Innovation Skåne explained, the testbed concept is more than just a pilot program. It provides a single-entry point into clinical environments in the Region and supports innovators from the earliest idea stages through to full-scale validation. This structured approach makes it easier for both clinicians and companies to engage in co-development and clinical testing within the healthcare system.

Participants also heard from innovative companies such as Dx4Life and Spermosens, who shared how collaboration with the Reproductive Medicine Centre in Malmö has been crucial to their development and success. In return, the clinicians presented direct input on where innovation is needed – ranging from better devices and AI for embryo selection and transfer, to a stronger focus on a couple-centred approach to infertility treatment.

The final speaker was Maja Lassenius Kramp, Ferring’s General Manager for the Nordics and she emphasized how ReproUnion stands out as an example of what collaborative ecosystems can achieve – where shared infrastructure and shared ambition move ideas faster from research to patient impact.

Throughout the event, the feedback from participating companies was clear: direct access to clinical perspectives and to the infrastructure behind RUBIC (the ReproUnion Biobank & Infertility Cohort) was both valuable and unique.

ReproUnion would like to thank all speakers, participants and the co-organisers Innovation Skåne and Medeon for contributing to an inspiring day. The event highlighted the strong synergy between clinical insight, research excellence, and entrepreneurial drive. It also reaffirmed the importance of building collaborative platforms that bring public and private actors together to tackle infertility and improve reproductive health.
