ReproUnion highlighted by Euronews in Smart Regions season VII

Mar 12, 2024

The project was selected for it’s high added value for European citizens and for the planet and highlight the bi-national “ReproUnion Biobank and Infertility Cohort” – RUBIC, where data from both questionnaires and biological samples are collected from couples in need of infertility treatment.

The cohort is really unique and one of its kind as:
– samples are collected from couples, both from the man and the woman, in need for infertility treatment
– couples from two countries are included

In addition the cohort has reached a critical mass of data, as more than 1400 infertile couples from Sweden and Denmark are enrolled. This means that researchers within ReproUnion can start to analyze and work with data to better understand some of the questions related to the causes and problems with infertility for both the man, the woman and the couple.

The goal of the current project period 2023-2026 is to use the triple helix collaboration between academia Lund UniversityKøbenhavns Universitet – University of CopenhagenMalmö UniversityLU Holding hospitals Region HovedstadenRegion Skåne and industry Ferring Pharmaceuticals to create innovative solutions such as new diagnostic tools to better predict infertility, preventative actions and solutions as well as new specialized treatments within reproductive health.
